Every week, the most famous military demonstration team, The Blue Angels, uses the Pensacola Naval Air Station as its training ground. Their technically awe inspiring and aesthetically pleasing maneuvers can be seen for free by Pensacola natives and visitors at 8:30 a.m. each Tuesday and Wednesday morning until early November. The Viewing area is a large open space located Just behind the National Naval Aviation Museum. Bringing your own chair is highly suggested but there is also seating for 1000 in a set of bleachers as well as handicap access. Just don’t forget sunscreen, some shades, and plenty of water!
Fair warning, the training sessions are not for those with a weak stomach. The aerial stunts performed by the pilots are the most difficult and dangerous in the world. The jets come within feet of each other as the they assume death-defying speeds and positions. The Naval Museum also has free admission, so when the spectacle is over take a stroll through the museum and hang out to meet the world’s best pilots at the autograph session inside.
